Claiming VA Educational Benefits

 



 

 

TO CLAIM VA EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS:

  • You must come to the UCO VA office each semester that you enroll.
     

  • You must have your Academic Advisor approve your classes on the UCO Veteran Enrollment Information Sheet each semester that you enroll.
     

  • You must bring an original printout of your class schedule to the UCO VA office each semester that you enroll.
     

  • You must bring a copy of your transcript to the UCO VA office each semester that you enroll.
     

  • If you are claiming benefits for the first time and you were on Active Duty, you will need to bring to the UCO VA office copy 4 of your DD form 214. If you paid $600.00 into the Plus-Up Program you will need to bring DD form 2366-1 and proof of $600.00 payment.  If you have Army, Nave, or Marine College fund, you need to bring a copy of your Enlistment Contract indicating you are to receive it.
     

  • If you are in the National Guard or the Reserves, you will need to bring to the UCO VA office DD form 2384 (NOBE). If you are eligible for a kicker amount, you need to bring copy of your kicker contract.  You get these forms from your Unit.
     

  • If you are getting benefits through the VA Vocational Rehabilitation program, we must have VA form 22-1905 from your counseling psychologist.
     

  • If you are claiming benefits as a dependent, you will need to bring us a letter of eligibility from the Department of Veterans Affairs, or the eligible veteran's claim number or social security number.
     

  • The UCO VA office keeps the necessary VA forms that will need to be completed in order to activate your Educational Assistance.
